The Bacchanal Mirror was inspired by this black rope found in Herculaneum in the city of Pompeii under the debris from Mount Vesuvius. This rope is now on view in the Naples Museum.

NOTE: The ropes of this mirror are decorative and visual, they are not meant to be functional battle ropes like seen on the gym floor.
